Back to school—Get your paper and pencils ready!
Congressional leaders are back in session and still working to finalize the FY09 budget. Please let congressional leaders know about the impact RIF has on your community!
Organize a children's letter writing campaign to kick-off your school year!
At this time, the best way to communicate about the importance of the RIF program in your school and community is to have your children write letters to your senators and representative. Last year we received over 10,000 children's letters and need even more this year.
What should the letters include? All of the children in your RIF program should write letters to congressional members from your state to thank them for supporting RIF and for the RIF books they receive, and to ask that they continue to provide funding for your program. If possible, we also ask that you send photos of RIF children selecting, reading or displaying their books.
When should I mail the letters? Letters must be received by: Friday, November 21, 2008. To find out who your members of Congress are, type your zip code in the "Take Action Now!" box in the right column.
We will personally deliver these letters, photos, and any other items that you include to congressional offices. Please send all letters, photos and materials to:
Government Relations Department Reading Is Fundamental 1825 Connecticut Ave, NW Suite 400 Washington DC 20009
