The Da Vinci Dust-Up; Dan Rich Goes to Cook

On Saturday and Sunday (May 13 and 14—just in advance of the opening of the film version of The Da Vinci Code the following week—a documentary, The Da Vinci Delusion, airs nationwide on The Coral Ridge Hour, the TV program of evangelist and author D. James Kennedy (What If America Were a Christian Nation Again?). The documentary—shot in Paris, New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta—features 15 evangelical and Roman Catholic experts, such as scholars Paul Maier (coauthor of The Da Vinci Code: Fact or Fiction) and Darrell Bock (Breaking the Da Vinci Code); authors Erwin Lutzer (The Da Vinci Deception), Peter Jones (coauthor of Cracking Da Vinci’s Code) and Lee Strobel (coauthor of Exploring the Da Vinci Code); journalists Jane Parshall and Sandra Miesel; and William Donohue, head of the Catholic League. Cook Communications has hired Dan Rich as senior v-p and publisher, effective May 22. Rich comes to Cook most recently from NavPress, where he was publisher. He previously held senior executive positions at WaterBrook Press, Multnomah, Word Publishing (now W Publishing) and Thomas Nelson. Cook has five trade book imprints, including Victor, FaithKidz, Honor Books, Life Journey and RiverOak. It also publishes curriculum and church resources.
