Some Font-themed Fun
August 27, 2008

My friend, colleague, and fellow font junkie Elizabeth Wolfson introduced me to this rather entertaining video today, in which a conference of  the world's best known fonts is rather rudely interrupted. Unfortunately, even its beneficial role in this story's outcome does nothing to improve my feelings about Comic Sans. I CAN'T STAND THAT FONT!! I do, however, feel a new fondness for Wingdings.

This. Is. Amazing. I want to know who actually thought of this. I... I think I'm in love with Wingdings. Just kidding. But this really is a great little story. Now, every time I've typed something since watching it, I think a bit too much about the font. Lol.

Alison, I love Comic Sans. I always use the font for my annual student essay contest flyers. I'm in love with it. That Winddings is another story. I don't get that font. I can't view the video on this old computer. I'll have to view it on another computer.

My taste in fonts is always changing. I use to love Comic Sans, now I haven't used it in years. There's so many fonts that are too much alike - somebody needs to come up with something really different, yet still readable. And I've never been a fan of wingdings. Curious to see that Magneto font someone mentioned, but apparently it isn't on my computer. What am I doing writing comments about fonts when all writers really need is Courier New, anyway?

Wow--I remember when letraset used to come out with a sheet of new fonts every month. We couldn't wait for a little job to use our favorites in! Oh I even remember BABY TEETH ON THAT SHEET. I have to say tho--I hated type specking! The type house rep was my best friend. Life is so much easier now....Type specking has gone to rest with telephone party lines! I love fonts and loved this video! Clever-very clever.
