Pete looks as if he was light on the eye liner. :) My problem is I could see a celeb and just not know it.
Hollywood was a blast. Thanks Sarah for picking me to go! Let's not forgot about Leslie Jordan (from Will & Grace) who we saw at the restaurant 'Ketchup' that Ashton Kutcher owns. Would have loved to see either Bob Barker or Ellen DeGeneres but the trip was still a blast!
I LOVE HOLLYWOOD!!! We had such a great time in Hollywood and yes seeing the celebs was probably the best part. I can't wait to go again...maybe next time i'll see Justin Timberlake :) Thanks for blogging about us!
I live in the Nashville area, and saw Leann Rimes at dinner the other night. This is the 2nd or 3rd time in a couple of months that I've seen her out. A friend of mine saw Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman out shopping in the shop she works in, and at Starbuck's the next morning.
Hey, Barbara, there's still a chance to bump into Johnny Depp :). He's supposed to be in Milwaukee one of these days to a bank robbery scene.
Johnny Depp sounds fabulous, but I wouldn't fight the crowds for a glance at him. Much more fun seeing them at Starbucks like Liza's friend. Of course, I rarely go to Starbucks either. Think I'd see them in Target? Barbara, didn't your nieces give you any Idle gossip to pass on to us?
It was fun to read your blog, Barbara! Other than seeing President John F. Kennedy & Frank Sinatra Jr. when I was waitressing at downtown hotels almost 50 years ago, it's been slim pickings on the celebrity sightings too!!
My husband saw Patricia Neal in the elevator of the Knoxville Hyatt Regency and she graciously waited in the lobby for him to come get me and meet her too. Then we were on an Alaska glacier cruise and met Jean Stapleton (Edith Bunker in "All in the Family") and Betty Buckley (the stepmom on "Eight is Enough" and star of the original cast of "Cats" on Broadway). I saw Lorie Morgan in front of a fancy restaurant in Nashville once. Ashton owns "Ketchup?" We just got one of those here. Very retro decor.
Oh, Barbara! How could you not know who Pete Wentz is?! ;-) I say this because my teenaged daughter told me how out of it I was the other day when I didn't know who poor Mr. Wentz is. And I don't think I've EVER seen a celebrity in person. *sigh*
Well, just when I thought it couldn't get anymore exciting than our run in with the Law and Order cast, Barbara (hee!), last month I saw Daniel Craig (the NEW James Bond) while I was in London! It was at a red carpet premier and I managed to get very close! AND this time I got pictures! I posted them on my blog a couple of weeks ago. All I'm saying is the man is S-E-X-Y!
I'm impressed with everyone's celebrity sightings.
Edie, I'll ask Sarah and Kelly to post any Idol gossip they may have heard.
Beth, I just went to your blog (which I now have bookmarked) and saw the great pics of Daniel Craig. I'm a huge Bond fan, so anything 007 is right up my alley.
I am another of those Nashvillians. And if you consider country musicians celebs(and I do), then I see quite a few of them. I live on the same road as Tim and Faith and Kix Brooks of Brooks and Dunn. Kix actually stopped in our driveway the other day. Just wanted to let us know that he was bringing in some still wild longhorns, and for us to let him know if they get out and destroy anything of ours. I told John Rich of Big and Rich my secret for never getting hung over.
Lia, that is so cool and my brother in law wants to visit you to try to get a Faith sighting of his own.
Hmm Idol gossip...its different then what I thought. We had to arrive at 3:30PM for the pre-taping of Neil Diamond and Natasha Bedingfield (which I thought everything was live) well Neil came on stage and did his in one take, then it was Natasha's turn. It took her 3 takes before she got it right. The first take she forgot the words, the second take she got through the song but when it came time for Ryan Seacrest to interview her it looked like he kissed her on the lips. Well I thought it was just my angle but when Ryan asked her a question she interupted with "Ryan do you always kiss your guests on the lips?" It was very funny. Then the stage manager came out and made them redo the whole thing. As for the actual show it was interesting. Simon if I do say so myself looked pretty buff and attractive if only he would do something with that hair. Paula is very tiny and Randy looks the same as he does on tv. No one acted weird on our show but I thought it was weird that during every commercial (which come on is only 3 1/2 minutes) all 3 judges would get up and leave and go back stage. Who knows what for. All and all it was very very fun :)
When my in laws lived in Santa Barbara we quite often saw "movie stars" shopping at the local Vons. I was in a Barnes and Noble near Pentagon City in Alexandria, Virginia last year when my daughter graduated from graduate school and I stood in line next to James Carville, the political consultant who is a Democrat but is married to a Republican Mary Matalin. He looked just like he does on K STreet, bald head and all. He was very pleasant to talk to.
I once saw the Green Bay Packer great Ray Nitzke at a restaurant. We finally got up enough nerve to talk to him and he invited us to sit at his table. He even let me try on his Super Bowl ring and it was huge.
About 20 years ago Michelle Pfeiffer was filming at the supermarket across from my High School for her mafia/comedy movie (who's title escapes me right now). My friends and I ditched class of course and did our best to sneak onto the set. It helped that my aunt worked at the supermarket - we got close enough to take a couple of pics before we got kicked off. Growing up in Massapequa - the Baldwin brothers were always regular sightings - as was Brian Setzer (once upon a time of the Stray Cats, now of the Brian Setzer Orchestra) - and we've ridden with Dee Snider (lead singer of that long ago hair band Twister Sister) in the Bikers for Babies run. By the way - none of those are on my "must see list" - Pierce Brosnan on the other hand is, so Barbara pack enough sandwiches and strawberries for three cause of Pierce in in some dark catacomb wearing his tux I want to be there too.
Gina, I think the movie you mean is Married to the Mob. Wow, you've got a list. I may have to arm wrestle you for Pierce though. :)
I sat next to the lead singer of Smash Mouth in 1st class on a plane once. I lived in Vegas most of my life so I ran into a lot of celebrities that way. Its true, though, that most times, you wouldn't even know it was them. Unless they're dressed to the 9s and swarmed by paparazzi, they look like everyone else. I once got knocked to the ground by Tony Curtis and his 6ft blonde girlfriend at the Forum Shops in Vegas about 15 years ago. He didn't lose a drop of scotch in the process. Ashton has actually been in AL to celebrate the opening of Ketchup, here. I'm sure he won't be buying a summer house or anything. I guess I'm the only one impressed with the Pete Wentz shot. He's soon to be Jessica Simpson's brother in law, if that means anything to you guys.
Andrea, I love Tony Curtis and am not surprised he didn't spill any of his scotch. I'm sure I'll be noticing Pete Wentz more now.
