From author L.Y. Marlow: Award-winning author L.Y. Marlow of Color Me Butterfly, a book about 4 generations of mothers and daughters that suffered and survived 60+ years of domestic violence and abuse, has launched a national campaign entitled Saving Promise to change domestic violence laws. The campaign is inspired by Color Me Butterfly which has won 7 awards including the National "Best Books" Award and the author's granddaughter named Promise whose life was threatened by her own father in a domestic violence dispute. Learn more about the Saving Promise Campaign and pledge your support. The author is seeking 1 million pledges to take her campaign to Congress to implore them to change laws. (A tragic situation that occurs much too often, check this out)
station! This past Saturday host David Ewen and author Liz Kreger discussed Liz’s books and her take on the RT convention’s ebook vs. traditional Book Fair. Click here to listen in. (I always listen to this stuff while working on the computer...I'm such a multi-tasker.)

Hi! Have a great time at the Wisconsin conference! I hear Lori Foster and Janice Maynard will be there. It should be great fun! -- Marcia James ;-) www.MarciaJames.net
Thanks Barb for the mention of "Color Me Butterfly"--your blog & contacts are so topical & timely.
Lots of great things going on I see! Liz did great on the COS Radio show. I've read Color Me Butterfly and it is such a fantastic and inspirational book! I always get the scoop from you Barb! :-)
Wonderful blog about Color Me Butterfly. I read this book and loved it! Now, I'm touched to learn about the Saving Promise campaign that was inspired by the book. We need more books and campaigns like this.
Love the blog about Color Me Butterfly. Great book!
Barb, thanks so much for mentioning Writers for New Orleans. I think we've managed to do a fair amount of good for a city that is integral to American history--and have a great time doing it. Anyone interested in a few of the great ghostly goings-on there can check out youtube.com, ghost walk heather graham lalaurie mansion. Thanks again, from all of us and a really great, unique city!
Writers for New Orleans has all the decadent joy and goldmine of publishing information and opportunities of RT on a smaller (for now!) and more intimate scale - and in the heart of the French Quarter. And it feels so great to do something to help New Orleans as she rebuilds herself one party at a time, as the locals say! Thanks for the mention, Barbara! Alex
I attended Heather Graham's Writers for New Orleans conference last year, Barbara. I'll be there again with bells on! Educational and entertaining, not to mention for a good cause. I had a blast and encourage others to join in this unique and inspiring event. See you there!
Here's the video Heather was talking about. I have to leave out the h tt p because this site won't allow me to post it. youtube.com/watch?v=V8l-tLP45Js
Thanks for the mention of the shapeshifter blog! I wanted to add one more author to our contributor's list: AJ Hampton! Dont' forget to check us out. Might I add, I'm terribly jealous of all you guys who made it to RT. :)
re: Heather's New Orleans Workshop. I was at last year's and had a blast. So did the other participants, plus they came away with valuable insights about writing and the realities of publishing. Great for beginning writers. Plus you help New Orleans. It's win-win.
Count me among the enthusiastic fans of Heather's Writers for New Orleans Conference. I had a great time last year and can't wait to go again over Labor Day Weekend. A good time will be had for all -- Heather practically guar-an-TEES it!
Heather's New Orleans Writers' thing. Last year was amazing! Everyone there came away with something, most increasing their skills as writers. It's New Orleans - that should be enough. Helping the town is great. The music is fantastic. Then there's the food... I doubt there can be a better hostess of a con than Heather - seriously.
Thanks so much for mentioning Heather's Writers for New Orleans Workshop. Everyone has a great time, authors, readers, aspiring writers and friends. Heather works extremely hard to make this weekend special to all who attends.
Thanx for the shout out, Barb. Doing an interview with Blog Talk Radio was a fun and exciting experience. The interviewer (David Ewen) was very easy to talk to and made sure I felt comfortable during the entire interview
Barbara, a lot of great information! I listened to Liz's radio interview, and she did great! I'll have to check out the shape shifter blog. Marcia Colette never once mentioned it to me.
Mucho good stuff today, including Liz's interview. :)
I just listened to Liz's radio interview. Great job, Liz! And by the way Barbara, love your blog!
Oooh, I love the Monday morning blogs best! Thanks for all the great info this morning, Barbara, especially about Liz Kreger's internet radio interview (can't wait!) and about the latest with BelleBooks. ~Faye
A great radio show from Circle of Seven.
Thanks for the plug, Barbara. It was great meeting you at RT. We'll have to do it again. ;-)
I really enoyed talking to Liz on Circle of Seven's new radio show on Blog Talk Radio. Liz has a great book out and it was fun to talk about it.
So great to see Heather's Writers for New Orleans conference mentioned in your blog. I attended the first, and every one since. It is a not-to-be-missed event. The speakers are fabulous. The networking, a blast. Especially in New Orleans.
Color Me Butterfly is a book about 60+ years of mothers and daughters who are overcomers. It should be the May Mothers Day Month read for all mothers and daughters.
First time listener. Great show! Liz Kreger's interview was great. Have you seen her book video? Awesome!
Gonna go check out the circle of seven radio station, thanks Barbara for sharing! I saw the Heather Graham video. So interesting! Crazy - scary!
